The long windy road that led to my SG childhood home in Bedok was lined with Assam, aka Tamarind trees. I remember being dragged out of bed *very grumpily* on the weekends for neighborhood hikes to pick the long brown thin-shelled fruit that fell from the tree. Mom would make a game out of gathering them and then we would go prata breakfast at the local Kopitiam aka, our local coffeeshop.
When we got home, the tamarind would be shelled and then it would metamorphosed into something delicious at dinner. One of my favorite ways to enjoy Assam was when it was cooked with juicy Udang, aka Prawns. Paired with rice, the naturally fruity and umami-fried seafood was a delicious weekend treat.
We make all our Tingkats from scratch and in small batches. Sharing is caring so please max 2 sets per person per order. If you want more than that, please email us and we can have a chat.
This Tingkat serves two happily. Final ingredients may change due to market availability. Apologies for being unable to do single servings for this meal. All sales are final.
In the event of no-shows, we will donate the meal to the nearest shelter.
