There are many street food delights we grew up with some filling wrapped in some kind of dough. From the Chinese pillowy dumplings to the Malay pastry based ones, we love them all. We are delighted to include our favorite curry puffs as one of Portland Dumpling Week’s offering. 

One of our favorite afternoon snacks was the curry puffs from the Mamak shop near school. There was always a flakiness to the pastry and Auntie always gave us Sambal to eat with it. We would juggle our school books, curry puff in one hand and a small bag of sambal in the other to dip and eat as we waited for the school bus.

As we miss this so much, we’ve learnt to make the dough and filling. It brings us great pleasure to be able to share this with the foodies in PDX. Part of the fun we get is to make the pastry and see how many layers we can create and fold in the process. The sign of a good curry puff is the round circles of ‘rings’ around the pastry.

All of these are made from scratch and in small batches. Sharing is caring so please 2 servings max per time per order. If you want more than that, please email and we can have a chat.

Oil & Water Dough using the following ingredients: Organic unbleached flour, butter, egg and a tad of salt & sugar. THE FILLING: This varies with the season. There's always potato and egg. Seasonal vegetables are used including: Pumpkin / Sweet potato etc. Always with OMG! Sambal™ & Sibeiho Houseblend Curry Spices.
